SAVE MORLEY COLLEGE DRAMA DEPARTMENT!
I, the undersigned, call on the Governors, the Academic Board and the Principal of Morley College to reverse their decision to close the Drama Department.
I believe this action is misguided, short-sighted and will have long term negative effects on the community and Adult Education as a whole. A proper consultation process must be afforded to all who work in/partake of the Drama department.
The Governing body must lobby LSC funding bodies and government to maintain current levels of funding whilst finding alternative strategies to accommodate the shortfalls should they come.
Furthermore, I resolutely challenge the current ‘solution’ to the alleged need for more office space; the Studio Theatre must remain a theatre, for the public, the tutors, the students and the future.
